The first solo flight is always a big achievement, but to be able to say you have flown alone in an aircraft before you can drive a car is on a whole new level. All the team here at Scenic can't wait to support you on the rest of your journey!

41 years after his last Solo flight, Alf achieved his '2nd 1st Solo' with us this week. A former Commercial Pilot in Canada, Alf wants to regain his PPL after a long break from flying and we're delighted to report he's well on his way!

It was all about Joe today, who passed his PPL Skill Test despite the windy weather! Congratulations from the Scenic Team.

Continuing the 'firsts', Will made it a hat-trick of first solo flights this week, following hot on the heels of Chester and Martyn. What a fantastic achievement! Congratulations Will, from all of us at Scenic.

Continuing our week of firsts, Martyn completed his first solo today. A major step on the journey towards his LAPL. Congratulations Martyn, we're all absolutely delighted for you!

Adam hit a major milestone in his flight training today when he completed his first solo! Congratulations from all of us at Scenic, you absolutely aced it!

Huge Congratulations to Jon, who completed his 1st Solo Navigation exercise this morning. He navigated from Teesside International Airport via Stokesley and Wombleton to York, and then back to Teesside via Northallerton. What a great milestone and achievement!

Huge congratulations to Jason, whose hard work paid off today when he gained his IR(R) (Instrument Rating (Restricted)). The IR(R) – also commonly known as the IMC Rating – allows you to continue your flight and land in more challenging weather conditions than those normally permitted when flying under Visual Flight Rules (VFR).

A huge achievement for Josh, who completed his first solo flight today. The first of many! Congratulations from us all at Scenic Air Tours & Flight Training.

It was quite a weekend for Joe, as he achieved the milestone of completing his first solo flight on Saturday under the ever-watchful eye of his Instructor, Trevor. Congratulations Joe, what a day! The first of many milestones to come.

Well done to Dan, who passed his General Skill Test today. He was so happy he agreed to pose in the rain that arrived at Teesside International just after he did!

Here's Luke under the watchful eye of Scenic Air Tours Ground Instructor Graham.  Luke was having ground school training in order to brush up his knowledge of Navigation before sitting the multiple choice exam.  We're pleased to say he achieved 95%.... which apparently Graham puts down to his fantastic tuition!  :-)    Well done Luke!!

Well done Jordan!  Jordan had a few anxious delays for his skill test with Scenic in house examiner Dale due the British weather.  However when the time came he passed with flying colours.  Congratulations Jordan from all of us!!

Aaron took to the skies for the very first time on his own and landed back with a 'greaser'!   As part of the PPL syllabus you not only fly with instructors, but also on your own, supervised by our instructors.  Aaron chose the perfect day, a light breeze and sunny weather.  Well done!

Congratulations Paul!!!   Paul had the daunting wait for the sun to burn off the low mist before taking to the sky with Scenic Air Tours NE Examiner.   Paul passed with flying covers and can now sleep well tonight knowing his shiny Private Pilot Licence will be coming though the post from the Civil Aviation Authority.  Brilliant!

We're all delighted for our student, Harnek, as he today completed his first solo flight. Congratulations Harnek!

Congratulations to Jonathan.  A day never to forget, flying solo for the very first time!  Jonathan had to wait a few slots due the weather, but when the time came, he nailed it!  Well done from everyone at Scenic  :-) 

Stuart recently gained his Private Pilot Licence (pictured here) with Scenic Air Tours North East.  Taking advantage of the early nights, Stuart is now completing his night rating.  During the rating you fly the aircraft solo. A different experience from during the day. Well done!

Mark joined us from Malta to complete his night rating. Flying G-BOJZ he completed the 5 hour course over 3 nights, with a mixture of circuits, navigation and solo flying.

Scenic Air Tours North East not only have experienced instructors, but also experienced Civil Aviation Authority Examiners. Andy completed his IRR Revalidation with examiner Captain Dale Reynolds. The IRR allows Andy to fly in cloud and reduced visibility. It's an excellent rating to add to your Private Pilot Licence to sharpen your skills.  Well done Andy on another revalidation!

A huge congratulations from us all at Scenic to Paul, who completed his solo long cross country flight today. Paul flew to Humberside and Leeds East airfields before returning to Durham Tees Valley Airport. General Skills Test next and then he's completed the PPL course!

A huge congratulations from all at Scenic Air Tours North East to Stuart Dixon for passing his Private Pilot Licence Skill Test.  What an achievement!  Stuart was delighted after the flight pictured here alongside G-BOJZ Scenic Air Tours North East's Piper Warrior.  Stuart has already said he can't wait to do his Night Rating next.  From all at Scenic - Great Job!

Paul pictured here with G-AVRK Piper Cherokee, returned safely after his qualifying cross-country.  What a fantastic achievement! Paul was absolutely delighted.  During the Private Pilot Licence you fly 150nm stopping at 2 different airports.  Paul navigated from Durham Tees Valley Airport to Humberside, on to Leeds East before returning home.  Awesome!

Graham completed his Long Cross Country, ready for his Commercial Flight Training Course.  Graham completed his Private Pilot Licence in 2016, and since then has studied for his Commercial Ground School exams. Graham hired Scenic Air Tours North East aircraft to build his hours and experience, then finally hiring the aircraft on a 300nm trip around the UK. Stopping off at Duxford and Leeds East on the way!

A day Dan won't forget in a hurry! After completing his circuit training, Dan took to the skies flying one circuit solo. An amazing experience!  Next stop for Dan is some solo circuit consolidation, then on to the advanced section of the Private Pilot Licence Syllabus.  Go Dan!

Shaheer pictured here in G-AVRK had just returned from his solo cross country flight.  During the Private Pilot Licence Training, part of the training involves navigation. Once your instructor is confident you can navigate the skies you'll be off on your own. Shaheer flew to Barnard Castle, then North East to the Nissan factory, prior to navigating safely back to Durham Tees Valley Airport.  Well done Shaheer!
